Lost and Forgotten

Photography Lost and Forgotten

About this work

Bees are disappearing at rates consistent with a mass extinction. If the decline of their population continues at this rate, many of the species will vanish forever within a few decades. Bees give life to everything we see and experience. One in three bites of food we eat depends entirely on bees – and they have been dying in unprecedented numbers.

With (bumble)bees on the verge of extinction, I symbolized the suffering and fear the queen bumblebee is experiencing with the loss of her entire beehive. I created this triptych to raise awareness for this dramatic situation.

The disappearance of the bees will hurt us much more than just a sting.
